Oterra’s commitment to driving positive environmental and social impact has never been stronger, and as we reflect on our key achievements, it's clear that we are making real, measurable progress.
Major milestones in our sustainability journey
Ambitious Climate Goals Our climate targets are validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and align with best practices and the latest climate science.
Reducing Emissions We achieved a significant 22% reduction in direct (Scope 1) emissions from 2022 to 2023, thanks to our state-of-the-art biomass boiler at our site in Cosse, France, as well as to energy efficiency upgrades across all our global sites.
100% Renewable Electricity We are proud to source all our electricity from renewable sources, reinforcing our commitment to a low-carbon future.
Growing Renewable Energy Use Overall, 40% of our total energy consumption now comes from renewable sources, which includes the 100% renewable electricity as well as renewable energy produced on-site via our biomass boiler in France and solar PV at our sites in Italy and India.
EcoVadis Rating Being rated by EcoVadis, a leading ESG ratings platform, underscores our commitment to transparency and to ethical, environmental, and social performance.
Strategic Sustainability Partnerships We have established two impactful partnerships that prioritize sustainability at their core.
ESG as a Corporate Priority Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance is now embedded into Oterra’s overall corporate performance KPIs, ensuring sustainability remains central to our business strategy.
Continued Commitment to the UN Global Compact We remain a signatory through the Global Compact Network Denmark, reinforcing our dedication to responsible business practices.
Transformative Partnerships
Collaboration is at the heart of sustainable progress, and we are proud of the impactful partnerships we have forged.

Oterra + VAXA Technologies This collaboration supports carbon-neutral spirulina cultivation in Iceland, providing our customers with a low-carbon blue alternative that requires significantly less land and water than conventional spirulina.
Oterra + EcoFlora Through this partnership, smallholder farmers in Colombia benefit from improved income opportunities while actively contributing to biodiversity conservation and deforestation prevention.
And we’re not stopping there—more exciting partnerships are on the horizon, so stay tuned.
Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
Building on our progress, three core focus areas will shape our sustainability efforts as we move forward:
Revamping our sustainability strategy to accelerate impact We are refining our corporate sustainability strategy in order to accelerate impact across all focus areas.
Advancing our reporting standards We are aligning our reporting with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), enhancing transparency and detail around our sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities.
Strengthening ESG collaboration in the supply chain To meet our goal of a 25% reduction in GHG emissions across our value chain by 2030, and to advance human rights, transparency, and best practices, we are deepening our ESG engagement with key supply chain partners.
Oterra is committed to leading the way on sustainability to realize our vision of making natural food and beverages easy for a sustainable and healthy world. We are excited to continue this journey with our employees, partners, customers, and other stakeholders. Here’s to another year of impact and innovation!
